Do Hair Loss Supplements work?

Do Hair Loss Supplements work?

The credibility of supplements for hair loss—or hair growth, has long been discussed.

With the average person taking different supplements daily, supplements touted to promote hair growth are fast becoming a popular addition to this daily regimen.

But the question is… do they work?

The answer is somewhat complicated.

When can supplements help?

Hair loss can be the result of a combination of factors. In some cases, it can also be a side-effect of medication, medical treatment or sometimes illness or stress.

Poor diet or lack of nutrients is also another common cause.

When hair loss is a result of poor diet or a nutritional deficiency, supplements can be useful in correcting the deficiency. A well-balanced diet is important to maintain overall health. If you do not have any vitamin deficiencies, you will be wasting your money.

What kinds of hair growth supplements are there?

There are a few supplements available to promote healthy hair growth. As previously stated, these supplements are only effective in helping hair growth if you are lacking vitamins or nutrients.

Supplements or vitamins related to hair growth include:

  • Iron

  • Vitamin A, B, D and E

  • Biotin

  • Zinc

  • Amino acids

  • Omega acids

Do they work?

Unless you have been diagnosed with a serious deficiency in a specific vitamin, mineral or nutrient, it is unlikely that any hair growth supplements will have a noticeable effect on your hair growth or regrowth.

As mentioned earlier, it is always important to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. You should always make sure you are eating well and getting your recommended daily vitamin and nutrient intake.

If you are thinking about taking supplements for hair loss, then know that they are exactly that—supplements. They should not be your primary plan and the results are not long-term nor will they reverse the onset of hair loss.

If you struggle to commit to a healthy and well-rounded diet, it can be beneficial to get some well sourced supplements.

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past decade, then there’s no doubt you would have surely come across what seems to be the holy grail of hair supplements; Biotin.

Biotin, sometimes called vitamin H, is a B-complex vitamin that strengthens protein structure in your skin, hair, and nails. You probably know it as the supplement people take to grow their hair thicker or faster.

It does exactly as it says on the tin; it helps hair grow faster and stronger. As a solution to hair loss, well...not so much.

Biotin will strengthen the remaining hairs you have. It could potentially slow down fallout on the weakening strands.

We recommend eating your greens, proteins and getting enough omega-3 and where all else fails, there is a NewFade hair unit, also known as a hair system or a hair piece with your desired style waiting for you!!
